Standard inkjet coating media

Strong Partnership are the current trend in the inkjet market to make the lives of service providers easier

When it is a question of colour accuracy in digital prints, many service providers see red. Too many proofs, too much wastage and long-drawn-out disputes with customers dissatisfied with the colours. A time-consuming, irritating and, above all, expensive process.
The root of the problem lies in the variety of print media, printers, colour profiles, RIPS and inks, all of which produce different results and therefore different colours. But the printing process itself can be faulty too (incorrect printing speed, wrong heat settings.) All of these factors have to be taken into account to avoid wasting digital print media - which is particularly annoying if large format prints are involved.
Global co-operation on the inkjet market between manufacturers of printers, RIPS, media and inks is on the horizon to alleviate the situation. Neschen is working closely with manufacturers on solutions to generate international standards. By co-operating closely, the aim is to provide significantly greater process reliability, both as regards the manufacturers and dealers, as well as printing service providers and end users. The aim of this alliance is to increase productivity by creating simpler production processes and a new, standard inkjet coating.
Because standard coating of inkjet media produces reliable quality. Another advantages is that the time taken to set profiles and colours is cut by up 90 percent. Due to the standard coating and optimum media all printers, only one adjustment is required.

Thanks to standard colour management, printing results can be reproduced world wide, regardless of the place and time at which the job is carried out and the printing material used. to quote just one example, Coca-Cola advertising will always be displayed in the same colours, whether at home in the US, Germany, China or the Central African Republic of Congo.
Because production processes and colours are reliable, complaints can be avoided, or mistakes put right more quickly and easily should something go wrong. Consequently, significant cost savings are made. Because quality is maintained, the products become more attractive, the consumption of ink de-creases, the number of proofs and faulty prints is kept to a minimum and production speed increases vastly.
Further benefits of this new inkjet coating are also that it requires up to 20 percent less ink and does not take as long to dly.

More intensive colours, less ink
To guarantee the ink is applied perfectly, Neschen has a coating method that provides significantly better colour properties in digital print media.By cutting the amount of ink applied, inkjet printers require less ink for the same colour density. According to Neschen, measurements prove that less ink is required. If printing service providers use the same amount of ink as they did before, the colours will look even more brilliant: they appear to have more depth and intensity and therefore cover a much greater colour space. The savings and increase in quality thanks to the new inkjet coating are enormous.
The Neschen panels for a variety of display systems are the first digital media to have the new coating. Other product groups are to be included in the near future.

Always the right combination
To show the colour space to its best advantage, Neschen has a data base in conjunction with ColorBase that includes all the colour profiles for all commonlyavailable printers. When a brand name manufacturer launches a new inkjet printer onto the market, Neschen already has the appropriate colour profile in its database. The current, verified profiles are available round the clock on the Internet for virtually all Neschen media. If users have already downloaded a colour profile and it is replaced by a new one, registered users will be sent an email telling them about an update.
This service provides the right printing profile for all standard combinations of printers, RIP and Neschen digital printing medium and is available, free of charge.
The goal of the Neschen ColorBase database is to establish a system for managing and providing up-to-date colour profiles and therefore ensuring the colour accuracy of digital prints. As a special service, Neschen also offers some inkjet profiles for not quite so widely-available printer types and inks. Profiles not yet available can
be requested online and generated by Neschen as part of the Color Concept.
Digitally-printed wallpaper is the magic word. The sheets are 1.30 metres wide and lend a truly personal touch to interiors. The wallpapers are ideal for trade fair stands, hotel foyers or advertising walls in shops and de-partment stores. Digital printing methods are required in particular where small print runs and personalised design are required. As a result, digitallyprinted wallpapers are in increasing demand for decorative or advertising purposes. Digitailyprinted wallpapers are a costeffective way of breathing new life into sales areas or entire shops. and trade fair stands become real eye-catchers.
If advertising is changed, the wallpapers are easy to remove and can be re-applied with a different design.
Digital, large format textile prints with sheet widths of up to five metres are ideal for even larger areas, such as high and wide walls in department stores or museums. For example, the car museum in the ZeitHaus in the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany has decorated its walls entirely with Neschen's digitally-printed jumbo media, covered in images by the Austrian artist Peter Kogler.

Integrated
An integrated concept was created, where interior design and exhibits were combined with each other artistically. Whether in the arts, fashion or food, digitally-printed wallpapers and jumbo media provide intensive colours and brilliant, high quality results – an intense black and brilliant white. Top quality is vital, because the customer is close to the printed area and would notice any faults.
On the other hand, colour reproduction on a shirt and in the associated brochure must be identical with the colour on the wallpaper or any other advertising medium. So Neschen provides a variety of the colour profiles required in its ColorBase. Because exact colour reproduction is essential, particularly in design or brand-name products.
Nearly all digitally-printed media are suitable for solvent and eco solvent, as well as UV-curing inks. As the latter are solvent-free, the Autostadt has opted for UV-curing ink printing. So the museum is following the current trend. Water-based materials are both eco-friendly and cut production costs. There is no need to install expensive ventilating systems, meaning lower electricity and maintenance costs - an important factor in the face of escalating energy costs.
In addition to UV-curing inks, latex inks are becoming increasingly popular as users are becoming increasingly concerned for the environment. Latex inks are manufactured biologically and completely odourless. As a manufacturer of high quality coated printed media, Neschen cooperates closely in this development process.

Variety
Double-sided adhesive mounting films create variety in sales and business premises. These media can be supplied in transparent form for windows and adhered to virtually any surface on either side. A special adhesive that sticks the film to nearly all surfaces, without any leaving any bubbles, ensures the result is perfect. In addition to the user-friendly method of adhesion, another advantage is that all of the film can be removed, therefore not damaging or soiling the surface. This special method of adhesion also ensures that the mounting film can be re-used several times. It can be removed easily and reapplied somewhere else.
Mounting films are increasingly popular, particularly in department stores and shops with constantlychanging advertising. The films are ideal around cash tills, where they can be moved every day, therefore creating greater customer awareness.
